Chicken keeping has a way of presenting you with situations you never thought to prepare for. Sometimes you need to learn the basics. Sometimes you need reliable information. Sometimes you are staring at a chicken and wondering whether whatever it is doing could possibly be normal.

First, Is This an Emergency?
If your bird is in immediate distress or you believe it needs urgent medical care, please contact a poultry-friendly veterinarian. Do not wait for an email response, a Henquiry, or a scheduled consultation.
The resources here can help you learn, gather useful observations, and make more informed decisions, but they cannot provide emergency treatment or replace veterinary care
What Kind of Help Do You Need?
I Want to Learn the Basics
The Feathered Fundamentals beginner workshop covers the things new chicken keepers need to know before they find themselves frantically searching the internet at midnight.
We talk about everyday care, behavior, housing, feeding, biosecurity, common health concerns, first aid, and how to recognize when something may be wrong.
I Need to Talk It Through
Sometimes you have read all the articles and still need another human to help you sort through what you are dealing with.
Flock Talk consultations are thirty-minute phone calls where we can talk through your questions, organize the information you have, and help you decide what your next steps may be.
These calls provide educational support and practical guidance. They are not veterinary appointments and I cannot diagnose or prescribe treatment.

I periodically choose submitted questions, remove identifying information, and answer them publicly so more than one chicken keeper can benefit from the answer. I cannot promise to answer every single submission, and Henquiries are not appropriate for emergencies, but your question may become a future post.

I cannot diagnose an illness, prescribe medication, guarantee an outcome, or take the place of a veterinarian who can physically examine your bird.
